Kealia Ohai is a name to remember! Since childhood, she did not let her blindness in her right eye stop her from being an amazing soccer player. Ohai explains since it happened to her when she was younger, she learned how to deal with it. She has trouble tracking the ball over her right shoulder and has to squint to get a better view. She didn't let her vision hold her back from succeeding.
Ohai became one of the best players on the University of North Carolina's women soccer team. She help lead the Tar Heels win an NCAA title. Secondly, she also was on the 2012 FIFA team. Ohai scored the winning goal in the Under-20 World Cup. Last, she was the second pick in the 2014 NWSL draft. She was the first ever pick of the Houston Dash's expanision. Kealia Ohai was a great contribution to the Houston Dash. However it was hard for the 24-year-old to win every game by herself. The Houston Dash was 17-47.
As we can see ladies, Kealia Ohai is an outstanding player and her list of accomplishments continue to get longer. She has been invited to try out for the U.S. women's soccer team. Another obstacle, Ohai had to get through was being in her older sister's shadow. Megan Cushing went to the University of Southern California. She also had an NCAA title under her belt. However Kealia definitely made a name for herself! Cushing believes in her sister and feels like she is starting to peak in her career.
Let's wish this inspiring young lady luck, ladies!
