All-Star weekend for most players is an exciting experience but all Erica could think about was the Fevers' 6-13 record. 2019 has been an emotional roller coaster for Wheeler. The Fevers are having a rough season which made her long for her mother's presence more than ever. Once she stepped foot on the court, Erica had to go back to her Miami days where she was known as a beast when it came to ball. It was proof that she entered into her zone because she ended up scoring 25 points. Erica Wheeler's journey from being a undrafted free agent to this year's WNBA All-Star Game MVP clearly shows her determination and faith in herself. She went from making $200 a week to becoming the first undrafted player ever in the WNBA to named an All Star MVP.
Today's WCW has a special place in my heart because Miss Erica Wheeler is from my hometown Dade County. Knowing the neighborhood she came from (Liberty City) where only the strong can survive, I can truly say that I am beyond proud of her and the legacy she is building. Young girls from Miami need to see that once you put your mind towards a goal it can be achieved. The opportunities are limitless!
