WNBA Semi-Finals Heating Up

Connecticut Sun’s defeats Los Angeles Sparks 94-68

Welcome to Freestyle Friday! This week I will cover how the WNBA semi-finals are on and popping.

No doubt in my mind winning a championship game is every ball player’s dream. The feeling of holding up the trophy after giving the game you love your all is indescribable. This year’s top four teams in the WNBA semi-finals are the Washington Mystics, the Connecticut Suns, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Las Vegas Aces. Yesterday the Connecticut Suns defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 94-68, which gave the Suns a 2-0 lead in the series. The Washington Mystics won versus the Las Vegas Aces 103-91, which gave the Mystics a 2-0 lead in the series.

Connecticut Sun's Forward Alyssa Thomas

Star players like Sun’s forward Alyssa Thomas are putting their blood, sweat, and tears into the semi-finals. Last night, Thomas did what she does best which is show up and show out. Even with labral tears in BOTH of her shoulders, she remained the leader of her team and adjusted her game to give her best for the game. Alyssa stats were 12 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. You go girl!

Another star player, Mystics’ Forward Elena Della Donne, also readjusted her game because of injuries. She did not allow them to distract her from balling. She even received her second MVP award for her performance last night. She scored a career-high of 30 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and two steals. Della Donne did all this with a knee brace on from a bruise knee injury AND a mask from a broken nose. Now that’s a MVP!
