Katie Taylor & Claressa Shields: Professional Boxers

Katie Taylor is known to be the Irishwoman who won the Olympic Gold in 2012. This month she will take her talents to the Wembley Arena. Yes, this will be Taylor's first professional debut. She has a long list of achievements: five world titles and six European titles in her 13 year career. Now all Katie wants to do is continue her legacy in the professional world.

Being a female boxer is not easy in the male dominant sport. Women definitely have to be the BEST to get her name known. Katie has definitely made her mark in the boxing world. She is already a superstar in her native Ireland! Taylor is confident that her fans will continue to support her journey in her professional boxing career.

Katie is excited for the journey head. She knows that professional boxing is competitive and will consist of women who are just as great as she is but she is completely up for the challenge. Her dream was to break barriers of women's boxing and the support she has proves that she is living her dreams. Promoter Eddie Hearn calls Katie Taylor an "incredible role model."

Taylor is not the only female boxer who is turning pro this month. American Claressa Shields will join Katie in the women's professional boxing challenge. She also has a gold medal under her belt. Claressa Shields was 17 years old when she won at Rio. She is will continue her legacy in the professional world.

Let's commend these young ladies for showing little girls that even in a male dominant sports: it is okay to live your dreams and you can achieve!
