Tamara James: Former WNBA Star to Mayor of Dania Beach

Tamara James is an outstanding, strong 32-year-old woman who played in the WNBA and now is an elected mayor of Dania Beach. Dania Beach is the oldest city in Florida's Broward County.

In James' early days, she was known to be the star guard/ forward for the University of Miami Hurricanes women's basketball team. (My hometown) After college, she entered the 2006 WNBA draft. She was drafted 8th overall and played guard for the Washington Mystics. She concluded her basketball career overseas. She played in Spain, Turkey, and Israel. She won three championships in those countries.

Tamara is proud to be serving and giving back to her hometown. Before being elected for mayor, she served as a member of Dania Beach's Marine Advisory Board, Charter Review Board and Parks & Recreation and Community Affairs Advisory Board. At the beginning of her campaign, she made sure that she will continue to bring life to her city as mayor. Her goals as a mayor will be to created programs that target the youth and elderly. She also want to build recreational spaces to keep the residents of Dania Beach active and out of trouble. She also wants to provide a vision and protect the city's future. Another goal of hers is to make sure that she makes positive changes to her hometown as the mayor.

Tamara James met more than 75% of the Dania Beach residents and feel a huge connection to all of them. She ensures to her fellow residents that she will keep her word and continue to make Dania Beach great!
